This review has a prologue)Six years ago, BenQ released the critically acclaimed W1070.Then steady.709 and DCI-P3 Superb HDR tone mapping Good contrast and solid black levels Amazing valueWhat Could Be Better: Input lag Fan noise in normal lamp modeI’ve spent the last several weeks with the HT3550, putting it through it’s paces and viewing a wide variety of content in various room conditions. But the biggest flaw is the lens cover. This will be the first one I’ve put together and I agonized over which projector I was going to buy for a long time.As others have stated, it hits all of the right notes.I owned the HT2050 until the HDMI ports got toasted by a nearby lightning strike and loved it.Text is smooth.Picture quality absolutely jaw dropping, 4K content with frame interpolation looks like live action. Then it wouldn’t stay on.My theater room has a 1080 projector that does a good job but it bothered me that I got a much better picture on a low cost TV than I did in the theater room.I have updated the firmware using a memory stick to version 1.It’s been said that this projector resolved lot of the first generation projector problems so not having to deal with some of those quirks is always a positive. My fears that the Epsom might not quite have the throw ratio I needed led me to look at this BenQ and I’m glad I did.But as far as picture quality goes this BenQ ht3550 blows it away! Well worth the upgrade I have a feeling this is going to be very hard to beat for the money.Just on my plain wall which is white paint. In a dedicated room with a proper screen and light control it will rival anything you could see at your local digital theater.4K films are simply incredible, blacks are inky black thanks to its dynamic iris, and HDR support truly makes for an excellent viewing experience.

I think for the price point ($1499. The color and brightness is really good, good mode options and color adjustment.I will be returning this projector for another like unit in hopes that it was a defect or damaged in shipping… I upgraded from the HT2550 I bought last year and I could not be happier.I have to stop the content and restart it in order for it to work correctly.I checked a few places to see if any local retailers had a demo of the new lower price 4K projectors.I watched a few video reviews before purchasing this projector and I like it even better than the reviewers did.We saw it in my friend’s home theatre and as they recommended bought the same for this thanks giving. The key is proper setup and blackout of the room.Read online that this is defective DLP Chip issue. They told me id be sending my projector in they will try and repair it or just send me a new one.I had been waiting over a year to upgrade.Luckily it was within the return period so Amazon replaced it with a new one.Had it about five months, about 80 hrs on the lamp.As they clearly state, mounting options are quite slim; especially horizontally.Fits the same as the W1070 in my slightly smaller room, and produces a brilliant sharp 4k image.Don’t think you’ll find better at this price point .

But background fan noise is more audible when it is quite. As they would put it… this is LIT… We ran out of wall space, so I’m sure it could project larger….This is a known widespread issue. Awesome projector with great image. The sharpness of the image and richness of color continue to blow me away every time I watch it.Overall very solid projector.I liked the performance, but it kept flashing occasionally.entry-content –><!– .The picture quality this projector lens puts out is simply impeccable and enjoyable to watch on a big screen.Picture is crystal clear beautiful bright enough for dark rooms.Even 11080p material looks great on it.Bright enough for darker rooms.Any ambient daylight really makes the projector unusable in this application.
